ABOUT

"Come on, let's burn everything down."

Sound on to hear an interview about SV Mashup by my daughter

What is SV Mashup?

It is above all a love for the old. For damaged, forgotten, discarded objects, and for the time, care and know-how of "bygone days".

It's also a small act of resistance, on my own scale, against the overconsumption of new things. I only work with secondhand, thrifted items: old frames, antique brooches, boxes, objects, period photographs (late 19th to mid-20th century), letters cut out one by one from old magazines or already damaged books... Even the materials for shipping are recycled.

Nothing new, just secondhand and recycled goods.

Sv Mashup is finally my space for creative freedom. When I'm not working acting, screenwriting, or directing —professions that depend heavily on the validation of others to be able to practice them—I need to create. To express ideas, often feminist and politically engaged, sometimes just funny or poetic.

All of this results in unique, analog works, made to be hung in your home and looked at every day, in contrast with the endless scrolling and images that we "like" before immediately forgetting them.

Sara Verhagen

Actress, screenwriter, director and mother, I explore art in all its forms, particularly through collage.

A polyglot (French, English, Dutch/Flemish, Italian, German, Spanish and a small base of Portuguese), I also work in voice-over, until AI potentially makes voice actors obsolete...

English being, along with French, the language that I speak the most (with my daughter, my best friends, and for work), several collages are released in English. Because sometimes a “Fuck” just works better than a “shit” or “damn.” I choose on a case by case basis!

Constantly deconstructing and learning.
